If We Can Make It through October

Merle Haggard had a country hit “if we can make it through December, everything’s going to be alright.” This is how I feel about the shenanigans that our elected officials are causing right now. October is always a frightening month for investors, but we have been here before and I believe it is a buying opportunity for the long term.

We are monitoring these markets very closely and will adjust to whatever these events present us with. My personal feelings are this is going to be a non-event for a market perspective. I don’t predict the markets; I just observe them.

I am working on the completed rough draft on my new book “40 Years of Investor Mistakes” and will meet with the publisher at the end of October. Hopefully it will be ready by Christmas and we will have some book signing events.

There will be an abundance of political theater this weekend. My advice is don’t put too much credence in what the talking heads are saying. There will be some sort of resolution because neither party gains on an adverse action. I will have more thoughts on this subject Monday but like Shakespeare “much ado about nothing.”
